Atrium Health Fort Mill EMS
SERVICES

The primary service provided by Atrium Health Fort Mill EMS is emergent transport to local area medical facilities, delivering timely Advanced Life Support care to patients in need. In addition to emergency response, Fort Mill EMS supports the community through standby coverage for special events, ensuring rapid medical assistance during public gatherings. The agency also places a strong emphasis on community education, offering outreach programs focused on injury prevention, emergency preparedness, and public health awareness to better serve and protect the residents of York County

OPERATIONS

The purpose of Fort Mill EMS is to train, maintain, and supply volunteers dedicated to helping people in our community who need emergency medical treatment in everyday and extraordinary situations.

ABOUT US

Founded in 1955, the Fort Mill Rescue Squad began as a volunteer organization supported by community fundraising and basic rescue equipment. Over the decades, it evolved alongside state EMS regulations, expanding ambulance services as call volume grew from fewer than 100 calls per year to approximately 3,500 annually.

As rescue responsibilities transitioned to fire departments, the agency focused exclusively on emergency medical services and became Fort Mill EMS in 2015. Today, operating as Atrium Health Fort Mill EMS since April 2025, the agency provides 24/7 advanced life support care from two stations, continuing a proud tradition of service to the York County community.
